FERS at the Annual Event 2025 of CoastPredict and DCC-CR

Our Director, Giulia Galluccio, delivered a presentation titled “CMCC Future Earth Research School: Learning, Sharing Knowledge, and Building a Multidisciplinary Community of Young Researchers” on February 5, 2025, during the session dedicated to training initiatives within the jointly organized event organized by CoastPredict and Decade Collaborative Centre for Coastal Resilience in Lecce.

The international meeting brought together more than 100 scientists from across the globe to advance research and collaboration on coastal resilience. The event featured the annual General Assembly meeting of CoastPredict, a United Nations Ocean Decade program, and UNESCO’s Decade Collaborative Centre for Coastal Resilience (DCC-CR), both dedicated to enhancing coastal risk forecasting and promoting effective adaptation strategies. International participants from Europe, the Americas, the Pacific Islands, the Caribbean, Africa, and Southeast Asia explored local challenges and the opportunities presented by global cooperation.

Giulia Galluccio’s presentation contributed to discussions on best practices, emphasizing the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration in training the next generation of researchers. Starting from an overview of FERS School, the session focused in particular on the activities related to Sea Level Rise and Coastal Adaptation. The presentation highlighted the importance of equipping future researchers with the knowledge and skills necessary to tackle the evolving complexities of coastal resilience.
